Stitchers Needed

Needlework is a great community and it is through the community of stitchers that we all grow and improve. Beginning August 2003, I will be working on my next new designs.

If you are a stitcher who wants to help in creating great needlepoint, I'd love to hear from you. I need three types of help: modelstitchers (the best stitchers), proofreaders (people who can spell -- I can't), and testers (to try out designs and techniques).

The requirements for each of the types of work are outlined below. Pay is in autographed copies of the book or chart you worked on and credit in the chart. If your model is pictured on the cover or the website, your work is acknowledged there as well.

To be a modelstitcher, you need to be at least an intermediate stitcher, familiar with reading stitch diagrams, and comfortable with working from written directions. You have to be comfortable working on 18 mesh canvas with a wide variety of stitches and threads.

I work hard to match stitchers' tastes with designs, but the more I know the better I can do that. The amount of work and the deadlines imposed depend on what I'm designing.

If you are interested please email me so that I can let you know about requirements and get the process started.

To be a proofreader, you need to be able to work under deadline and be an accurate speller and be able to correct grammatical mistakes. I am not the best of spellers and edit as I write, so getting good proofreading is a big help to me.

If you are interested in proofreading, send me an email letting me know why you can do this. It doesn't have to be fancy, just a note so I know something about you.

To be a tester, you can be a stitcher at any level. This will be the position I need to fill the least often. Testers check out the instructions for a project by completing it themselves. This lets me be sure that the level is appropriate and that I didn't leave anything important out.

As a tester your stitching does not need to be perfect, since the product is not being photographed.

If you are interested in being a tester, email me and let me know something of your stitching background. We'll proceed from there.

I do refer my stitchers to other companies from time to time, and if that occurs, you will work directly with the company and I will let you know about the opportunity.

Thanks for your interest!
