Needlepoint
The owner of the company is Janet M. Perry, who is well-known for her innovative needlepoint techniques and clear writing style.
Here's what she says about herself:
I discovered needlepoint in 1970 as a teenager when I saw a picture of a kit in a crafts magazine. My parents bought the kit for me, and by the end of that weekend I had finished it and was hooked, completely and totally.Almost as soon as I started stitching I started designing pieces and adapting what I saw to needlepoint. I also started experimenting with threads. I sometimes think there isn't anything which could be threaded that I haven't stitched with (including Christmas tinsel).
In the years since I have rarely had a needle out of my hands, stitching through lectures at college, in doctors' waiting rooms, and at baseball games. Some of my kids' friends even call me "The Needlepoint Lady."
It's been a dream of mine to have a business in the needlepoint industry almost since the beginning and in 1997 the seeds of my current business were sewn. I became the first Needlepoint Guide for About.com, a position I held until I founded this company.
My philosophy then still fuels what I do today. I am committed to:
As a stitcher myself, and a bit of an iconcoclast in needlepoint, I know that I don't always like to buy a ton of thread when a project needs little, I sometimes want "no stress" stitching, and I wish those 70's projects I see in books weren't such awful colors. I am a concious consumer of needlepoint and use recycled paper for my printing and want to help you use your stash of threads.
Demystifying all aspects of needlepoint to make it fun and easy
Providing correct information in a way which is erasy to understand

Creating innovative and modern projects, including customized pieces
Bringing back to life and modernizing great needlepoint techniques of the past

In short I want to make your needlepoint unstuffy
No matter whether you have stitched for a lifetime or are making your first project, I want you to enjoy yourself. There is so many lovely projects out there, I want to make it easy to needlepoint. If you are buying a magnificent hand-painted canvas, or want to make a project with your scraps of thread, I want to help. Just email me (napaneedlepoint @ gmail.com - remove spaces)
I am a member of TNNA (The National Needlework Association), ANG (American Needlepoint Guild), and EGA (Embroiderer's Guild of America.
On the personal side, I'm married with three adult kids and three cats. Two of my kids live Back East and one lives in California. Two of the cats prefer to sit on my laps when I stitch. And if needlepoint didnt' keep me busy enough, I like to read watch movies and enjoy all the fine dining around Napa Valley (if you are coming to Napa Valley email me for recommendations).
